The First House

In astrology, there are 12 houses in each natal birth chart. When using a traditional whole sign approach, each zodiac sign will consist of 30 degrees each. Therefore, each individual will have all 12 signs in their birth chart. The "house" placement describes a particular area of the individual's life.

The First house is a powerful house because it is considered "angular". The strongest angular houses are the First, Fourth, Seventh, and Tenth Houses. When Jupiter is in the First House, we can often find a highly generous person who is always willing to grow and learn to better themselves. With Venus in the First house, we can find a person who is affectionate, creative, attractive, and perhaps a bit possessive. With Mars in the First house, we can find someone who is courageous, active, and skillful--and at times a bit reckless.
